Jaffar is an insurance professional with almost 30 years of experience. Jaffar has served the insurance industry for almost thirteen years in the Middle East and Pakistan before moving into the regulation of the insurance industry, about seventeen years ago.
Jaffar is currently working as an Associate Director in the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA), regulating and supervising the insurance industry in Qatar.
Jaffar has represented QFCRA at the international level in the standard setting process, demonstrating his expertise and knowledge in financial regulation. Jaffar has represented QFCRA at international bodies like the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB).
Jaffar is an actuary, MBA and a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), USA.
Jaffar is also a representative of the MAP committee at the SOA International Committee.
Jaffar is an active volunteer of the SOA and has been instrumental in introducing the SOA to the stakeholders such as regulators (both QFCRA and Qatar Central Bank (QCB)), universities (like Qatar University and Hamad Bin Khalifa University), Qatar Foundation and training academy (like Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA)), in Qatar.
